Hiking and culture in Costa Brava: Palafrugell - Cala de Castell
This path through the Baix Empordà takes us from the mountains to the sea, crossing a rural area until it brings us closer to the magnificent beaches and coves that the Costa Brava offers us. The route is linear, flat and downhill. In total 14 km (7 one way + 7 return) easy to do in pleasant company, along dirt roads, fields and the great natural wealth characteristic of Mediterranean areas.
We will stop halfway to have a snack and regain strength. We will discover, close to the coast, the “Barraca de Dalí”, a small hut that Dalí dedicated to his friend Josep Mª Sert.
We will also see “Mas Juny”, a fortified building, considered of national cultural interest and we will visit the Iberian town of Castell, ruins from the Iron Age right next to the beach.
Upon arriving in Cala de Castell we will eat, have a picnic or at the beach bar. Afterwards we will take a bath in clear and cool waters!
